An Afternoon at Barnegat Lighthouse

Barnegat Beach

A late departure from Philadelphia found us on the beach late in the afternoon. Despite a partly sunny forecast, it was mostly cloudy. This resulted in a menacing backdrop to the lighthouse at the northern end of New Jersey’s Long Island. After approaching this towering lighthouse, we made our way out the jetty. The wind cut harder with every step. The views got better with each boulder. At the tip of the jetty, there was nothing to see but vast ocean. The mundane, overcast seascape was welcome, a refreshing escape from the crowded gray, icy, hum-drum Philadelphia.
