Splashing against Rocks

Big Splash

Surprise Splash!

Did my camera get splashed during this shot? YES.

Earlier today, after being caught under the splash of a huge wave on the north coast of Maui, I was asked by a kid how I protect my camera. Well, it’s weather-proofed, but I’ll admit salt water definitely isn’t good for it. I wipe it dry as soon as possible. To be fair, I never walk into a nasty environment expecting to trash my camera. But it seems half the time I get outside I’m surprised by the adversity my camera faces. Sorry buddy.

Waves smashing a well-seaweeded volcanic rock at Slaughter House Beach

These shots are the result of such naivety on my behalf. I walked up to these rocks fully expecting to be immune from the rushing and crashing water. But while I was focusing on the shot, I missed what was happening just outside, and I got smacked in the face. Anyhow, I’m very excited about how these turned out. Thanks bud.
